Lia’s Character Page

The Bridge Between Traditions • Student of Many Lands • Future Keeper

Lia arrives quietly, but her presence becomes deeply meaningful. She comes from India, sent by her mother, a respected herbalist in her village, with a simple but powerful purpose:

To learn.
To listen.
To carry knowledge home.

Lia quickly becomes a studen of June, a listener beside Silas, a bridge between traditions, and a future keeper of knowledge.

She is not yet fully confident in her role, but her quiet curiosity and deep respect for tradition begin shaping her into something important.

Lia represents the next generation of keepers.

Basic Information

Full Name: Lia
Age: Mid 20s
Origin: Rural village in India
Role: Student • Learner • Future Herbal Keeper
Current Location: The Ridge and Mountain Archives
Known For: Quiet observation, journaling, deep curiosity

Background: India

Lia grew up in a small village in India, where her mother served as a community herbalist.

Her mother:

• Treated families
• Taught young women
• Gathered herbs at dawn
• Passed knowledge quietly

Lia grew up watching:

• Herbs drying on woven mats
• Mortars and pestles worn smooth with years of use
• Women arriving quietly for remedies
• Stories passed from generation to generation

But her mother noticed something in Lia.

Lia did not rush to learn.

She watched.

She listened. She asked questions slowly. Her mother told her one evening:

“You don’t just want to learn herbs, Lia… you want to understand them.”

That was when her mother made a decision.

Lia’s mother had heard stories.

Stories of:

• Ledgers being gathered
• Knowledge being preserved
• Communities quietly preparing
• A woman named June Carter

Her mother believed, knowledge was meant to travel across borders, traditions must meet each other, and learning must always continue.

She told Lia:

“Go.
Learn from others.
Listen to their mountains.
Then come home… and share what you carry.”

Lia left with her simple belongings, a small cloth bag of herbs and seeds, a journal from her mother, and a quiet sense of responsibility, not knowing what she would find.

She arrived quietly at the ridge, and always observed before speaking. June noticed her calm presence, but strong knowledge of herbs and her traditions. Silas noticed her listening, and absorbing everything around her.

Slowly she began to help organize the ledgers, walk the ridges, and sit quietly listening to silas play the handpan, one of her favorite things to do.

She learned to ask thoughtful questions….

• “Do plants sound different in different lands?”
• “How do you know when knowledge should be shared?”
• “What happens when traditions meet?”

June and Silas both recognized something in her: A future keeper.

Lia and June Carter

June becomes Lia’s mentor, teaching respect for knowledge, careful record keeping, and the responsibility of preservation.

Their relationship grew into something that was very difficult for both of them to leave, when Lia was meant to return home.

Lia and Silas

Silas teaches Lia something different. He teaches her to listen without rushing, to sit in silence, and to feel and understand the atmosphere around her.

Lia often sits beside Silas while he plays, and she learns from him that learning is not always about information, but sometimes learning is about stillness.
